I have always been a problem solver.

When children in our community needed winter coats, I organized a coat drive. When I saw students coming to school hungry on Monday mornings, or worse, burned from trying to cook for themselves over the weekend, I didn’t form a committee to study the problem. Along with three teachers, I helped create TheWiNS Project, and we got to work feeding children. We fed over 500 children every weekend during the school year.

That is who I am.

I don’t share those stories for applause. I share them because they show exactly how I lead:

see the problem, bring people together, and solve it.

For 30 years as a nurse, I have listened to families, advocated for women and children, worked alongside people with different backgrounds and different ideas, and learned something important: when good people stop worrying about who gets the credit and start working toward the solution, communities can accomplish incredible things.

That is the kind of leadership I will bring to Harrisburg.

I know how to listen. I know how to build a team. I know how to ask the tough questions. And when something isn’t working, I am not afraid to say so, and then get to work fixing it.

The problems facing the PA-50 are not talking points. Rural hospitals are struggling. Public schools need our support. Families and seniors are being squeezed. Communities are being asked to carry the burden of decisions they had little voice in making.

We know the problems. It is time to stop debating whether they exist and start solving them.
